Rick Arlow – Head of Clinical Research, CSO
Rick has an undergraduate Bioengineering degree from Lehigh University, and is currently attending Case Western Reserve University for a dual MD/PhD program in Biomedical engineering. Rick has a strong background in biomedical engineering, three-dimensional modeling (CAD/CAM), product development, emergency medical care, business development, and airway management. For the last three years Rick has gained experience as a certified emergency medical technician and has learned the special constraints and criteria for these medical providers. As an undergrad at Lehigh, Zach Bloom and Rick carried out a survey of emergency medicine physicians, trauma physicians, and paramedics to identify problematic areas in these fields of care. Afterwards, they developed and patented a solution to the current complicated and insufficient tracheotomy devices through inter-disciplinary collaboration with physicians, first responders, and a snakebite expert. Rick is a young, high-potential medical researcher that has developed a solution of high relevance for battlefield, Pre-Hospital, and In-Hospital airway management. His expertise and experience have prepared him to commercialize his tracheotomy devices, save many lives, and continue innovating in the medical field.
Zach Bloom – Project Manager, CEO
Zach has an undergraduate Applied Life Science degree and a Masters in Health and Biopharmaceutical Economics from Lehigh University. Zach has a strong background in product development and product management for medical devices and has work experience bringing medical devices to the marketplace. As an undergrad at Lehigh, Zach Bloom and Rick Arlow carried out a survey of emergency medicine physicians, trauma physicians, and paramedics to identify problematic areas in these fields of care. Afterwards, they developed and patented a solution to the current complicated and insufficient tracheotomy devices through inter-disciplinary collaboration with physicians, first responders, and an evolutionary morpholy expert in the field of Viper anatomy. Zach is highly engaged in the entrepreneurial community and offers his free-time and knowledge to fellow startups and young companies. As the Young Entrepreneur is Residence at Lehigh University’s Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation, Zach provides guidance and development to the community of entrepreneurs at Lehigh and is an Adjunct Lecturer teaching Entrepreneurship in the P.C. Rossin College of Business and Economics. His goals are to commercialize his tracheotomy devices, to establish LifeServe Innovations as a strong brand in the medical arena and to continue innovating in the medical field with the development and marketing of more lifesaving technologies.

Business Summary
LifeServe is developing fast and easy percutaneous (minimally invasive) surgical devices that are safe and effective for use by a wide range of doctors as well as emergency medical professionals, such as paramedics in the field. The product line currently in testing utilizes a patent-pending approach titled the SMART (Seldinger Modified Airway Rescue Tracheotomy) Technique, designed for use in rapidly forming a surgical airway, commonly known as a tracheotomy, under non-ideal considerations that may occur in the field, in transport, in the ER or in the ICU settings.
