Afton Vechery
Afton is currently a senior at Wake Forest University and is about to receive her B.S. in Business Enterprise Management with a dual concentration in New Science Development and New Business Development as well as a double minor in Neuroscience and Entrepreneurship. At age 14, her science fair project placed at the International Science and Engineering Fair. When she realized the problem she had discovered would not be “solved” she took matters into her own hands and founded a company which she continued to run for the remainder of high-school. She realized her passion involved combining the worlds of business and science to bring them to market in a way that would benefit humanity. She continued to combine the worlds of business and science through a Presidential Scholarship for Entrepreneurship at Wake Forest University and has spent her college experience mentoring entrepreneurs and managing a start-up company. She has continued to explore cross-institutional as well as cross-cultural relationships and based on her research and involvement, was invited to intern at Le Laboratoire, an Art /Science Innovation Laboratory in Paris, France under Dr. David Edwards, completed business ethics research in Lebanon, and researched female entrepreneurship in Kenya. Her Neuroscience research was selected for presentation at Synapse Regional Conference. Her current venture, Kera10, is the culmination of all of her global endeavors, creativity, and science.
Business Summary
There has been a rising trend in crossover from biotechnology to the cosmetic industry. Kera10 holds the exclusive license to all cosmetic applications of the 24 manufacturing and field of use patents that its biotechnology parent company, KN LLC, has developed. Kera10 will develop applications of the biomedical grade purest keratin in the world and leverage strategic relationships to bring these innovations to market.
